Thanks you for your lovely comment! I...Dear Peter!

Thanks you for your lovely comment! I'm pleased to hear that you like my blog. I also took your advice and made more paragraphs which is a great help, so thanks again!

I just really liked the film because it was something to visualize and made me more emotional. Yet if you didn't really enjoy the movie, I'm indeed not so sure if you'd love the book.

And I understand what you're thinking, it is indeed a little weird that the mother and other characters didn't understand what was happening. I just really enjoyed being in the head of a 9 year old to discover how he'd react on this all.

I'll be sure to check out the book from John Boyne you mentioned! Sounds really interesting :) And thanks again for the lovely comment!

PS. I'm 17 now and turning 18 in a month so I'm still in high school.

EricaEricahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15356044798242919785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3196377894123193352.post-87728942073747156212016-02-14T12:09:52.775+01:002016-02-14T12:09:52.775+01:00Hi Erica :)

They are a bit confusing, because you're ambivalent about the book, but I see all those thoughts while reading, in myself too. So it's really relatable, and I guess that's the part I like the most.

Also, sentences like "I really loved the main character Winston though! In the beginning I was a little bit like 'meh' ..." Hahaha, sooo, so so good! :)

best wishes PeterPeterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16633060893950121063noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3196377894123193352.post-67498205995801106582016-02-14T11:55:47.553+01:002016-02-14T11:55:47.553+01:00Hi Erica :)
Wow, what a long review. You're s...Hi Erica :)

Wow, what a long review. You're so dedicated, and I like that you go through all those differents thoughts. I've looked at the title at the cover so many times, but I didn't read it. But it was - of course - one of the books you're always recommend after you've read and loved The Book Thief.

I saw the movie adaptation of The boy in striped PJ, but I actually didn't like it. I think it was the story in itself, or was it the acting. It seemed a bit weird that no one in the family really understod what a concentration camp was. Especially the wife.

Maybe it's beacuse everything is so clear to us now. That we've learned about it in school and in tv for so many decades that it seemed weird the didn't know or didn't want to see.

When you say the movie was a bit better than the book, I'm not sure I'm going to read the story ;) But on the other hand, one of my best haunted house stories is by John Boyne, a gothic horror novel (It sounds a lot more scaring than it is) from England. He wrote it in such a warm tone for the protagonist Eliza. It start out in London in 1867 and I just love all the English culture from that time - Sherlock Holmes' period, so it's definitely worth a read, if you like mystery stories with lots of warmth http://youthculturedenmark.com/2015/05/21/this-house-is-haunted-by-john-boyne/

I'm really impressed by your blog. I actually don't know how ol d you are, if you - when you mention school, means university or high school, but I like that you have so many thoughts about everything - I do too ;) - instead of the usual superficial YA blog review you find most often.

I'm really looking forward to read more at this blog and to discuss books with you.

All best PeterPeterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16633060893950121063noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3196377894123193352.post-23820235940019310912015-11-22T10:49:49.450+01:002015-11-22T10:49:49.450+01:00Hi Erica :)
Just posted a long comment about thi...Hi Erica :)

Just posted a long comment about this neat book blog on your instagram/bookstagram. The fact is, that I would love to read it, because it looks so interesting, but I truly can't read it beacuse the font is too small. :(

Try to compare one of your reviews layout with one of my teen reviewers layout, e.g. Kathrines here: http://youthculturedenmark.com/2015/10/19/firsts-by-laurie-elizabeth-flynn/

Then you can see we use a lot of paragraphs to make the amount of text light, even though we never can write a short review ;) We also use these small lead texts before many paragraphs to get the user curious and get them to hang on an read to the end.

What you should notice is, that visitor statistics can be misguiding. It's not so much about how many visitors one have on the blog, it's about how long each visitor stay.

And the fact is that most visitors stay less than 30 seconds. In our statistics I think I recall about 80% stay only less than 30 seconds. So we really need them to read on and to make them stay, getting them curious ;)

Only saying this to help you, because you look very passionate and I quite like your style and way of writing. But I'm really afraid you loose a lot of readers on the account of the very, very tiny font.

Check you statistics and see how long people stay at your blog - they have percentages for that.

I'm really good at Wordpress, not blogger/blogspot, so I don't think I can help much about how to find your stats, but you are really always very welcome to ask anything bloggy.

All best from Denmark to Belgium, Peter (the editor at Youth Culture Denmark)Peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16633060893950121063noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3196377894123193352.post-42176843019744191682015-10-12T21:05:32.919+02:002015-10-12T21:05:32.919+02:00Looks really nice.
