Focus

A very long time ago, I read this first in a series. I remember being so in love with this book and its cover that I also bought the second book to it already. In my review about the first book, I remember ending with something along the line of "I also read the second book already and am going to write the review right now". Hmm... I wonder where that review is now? For my birthday I got the third and fourth book in this series and I wanted to fresh up my thoughts by reading both reviews of book one and two, now I found the review of book one. I never found the review of book two... So I decided to reread this second book and bring the review after all: Focus by Alyssa Rose Ivy.

WARNING For the ones here that haven't read the first in this series, I recommend you not to read on since there will be further developments to the characters and to the plot. This will create a less pleasant read of Focus because you know more information than you already should. Therefore, I recommend you not to read the review of Focus but to read the review about the first in the series: Flight. Just clicking on the title will open a new page with the review on the first book.

Being a future wife of a secret society you know nothing about is hard. Having to work for college next to that is near impossible.
Allie finally starts her college years, but things have never seemed so hard than anything before. Being a fiancee to some creature and not knowing taking his ring would mean she was going to marry was something she never saw coming. It's one thing to be engaged, but it's a whole other when being engaged to the prince of the Society brings danger into her life. Already being kidnapped once, the odds do not seem to be in Allie's favour. Above that Levi is trying to win her trust back after the ring incident. Realizing the danger she's in and her feelings for Levi, Allie knows it's too late to turn back.

This book. YES! I didn't remember a lot of it anymore so it's a great thing that I decided to reread this book and hell did I enjoy it! Let's start with the characters.

First of all there is Allie, her determination in Focus is unbelievably fascinating. In book one she was already recovering from a broken heart, now being engaged to someone without knowing she was going to be engaged is a whole new thing. Yet this is also something where we'll see that her heart is broken over. Her feelings for Levi were pretty clear in the first book and being deceived like this is something she never imagined. Her determination however to keep him at a distance and making him work for it is something I really admired with this character. She still knows how she feels, however we also really see the indecision in her personality. She loves him but knowing what he did, him lying to her and keeping her out of loop of who he is and what his intentions were with the ring really crushed her. This character will therefore be a very strong female character that's willing to be independent and making the guy work for it.

I really enjoyed seeing how Allie was growing as a character and how she was so determined. We'll also really see how her feelings evolve through the story, especially once this whole situation makes sure she needs to go to events all the time and will have to leave school constantly. Her will to study is very big and seeing that she's now obligated to go to events of the Society with the man that deceived her but who she still has feelings for will therefore bring many problems and mixed feelings.

Lastly about this character, we'll really see how she acts under pressure. Pretending to be Levi's mate will is one thing where we'll really see this character grow into the person she is at the end of the book, as well as her indecision of her feelings. Yet being the prince's mate will also cause her to be in danger. I enjoyed seeing how this character was while being under pressure once again.

As for Levi, if there's one thing I really noticed is how sex obsessed he is. That was something I wished I saw less in him because the Levi who is sweet and caring also gets a place in this story and I just adored it. Levi is known for his cockiness and arrogance and overall I don't mind it that much, add the sex obsessed side to it and it begins to be doubtful if I like him that much.

But as I mentioned before we do get to see a sweeter side of him. One where he isn't that arrogant and to be very honest this side of him... it's so swoon-worthy! And this also effects our other main character which makes sure there's a certain dynamic that's absolutely outstanding! One side that's also really enjoyable to see in Levi is his jealousy because he gets jealous over the littlest things. It gets funny after a while!

Overall these two will have a rough ride during the book. Especially because Allie is feeling very mixed about Levi and Levi still sees her as his. He sometimes is a little over-possessive which will bring heated moments between these two which readers will find very understandable. The thing between these two is that they do know how to give and take, both will sacrifice things for each other which made this relationship very balanced and readers will really want them to be in a relationship. They're just yin and yang! If these two will end up together is still the question...

As for the plot, I remember speaking of a very high pace in Flight. Here I felt like the pace was already lowered but still very fast. Especially when the danger is there. This book will really focus on Allie being Levi's mate, and him being the prince of this mysterious creatures world also means that he has enemies.

These enemies will be after Allie to harm Levi. Whenever there was this danger or threat I felt like it was dealt with rather soon, which is a little disappointing if you ask me. The author could have gone crazy with it and really opened up this story to more of it if you ask me. The danger really works well with the overall theme of a protector, here being Levi, and the person who doesn't want to be dependent on the person who brought this crazy world in the first place, Allie.

Other than the danger and the faster pace with it, the rest of the plot was highly enjoyable. Readers are going to be tortured! And I mean that in two ways. One kind of torture because you want these two to be together. The plot really makes room and time for Allie to gets things in order and to find out what she feels after the whole engagement disaster. Meanwhile we also see how Levi is working to earn her trust back and to make her fall in love with him once more. It really brings all sorts of situations which leads to my second way of torture.

The whole Levi being overprotective and Allie being so independent and determined to get him at a distance, will cause situations where Levi was one step ahead and blocked all guys for her. Making them know that she's with him and they need to stay away. This causes that all the guys stay away from Allie, including them staying away from her friends! Which then again causes fights that are just hilarious to live through because we know the meaning behind them. The feels are just all over the place! I absolutely loved how these two characters are and how they work together making this read funny and light. Add in some more information about the Society and the new creatures, the danger and the hierarchy and you come to a story that's amazing to read and has everything to enjoy it!

Concluding this I can say that I absolutely adore this book! The characters are just to die for, both having such strong personalities really brings some sparks into this story. Also the whole disaster that happened in Flight brings that these two have a lot to work out. With Allie being distant and very independent and Levi being very protective and wanting her back, these two bring encounters that are really enjoyable and funny to read. Add some danger into this all and you're in for a great story. My only remark is that the author could've extended the danger a lot more and if the pace wasn't as fast, we could've enjoyed it a lot more and feel the suspense. Overall, I absolutely think this book is swoon-worthy and over the top feelings that will leave the readers with a tortured heart that skips a beat. I can't wait for the next book!

Ascend

The time has come to end yet another series! I still remember the first time I had the first book in my hands... I saw it and it was mine. And here we are, to the third and last book in this series that has surprised me and took me on a great adventure. It's always sad to close a series, however I am absolutely happy that I picked this one up. The only thing I can already say though is that this was totally different from what I had expected to happen and it did disappoint me in the beginning. But I have come to terms with it and I am absolutely in love with Ascend by Amanda Hocking.

WARNING For the ones here that haven't read the first in this series, I recommend you not to read on since there will be further developments to the characters and to the plot. This will create a less pleasant read of Ascend because you know more information than you already should. Therefore, I recommend you not to read the review of Ascend but to read the review about the first in the series: Switched. If you're interested in the second book, Torn, I also wrote a review about that book. Just clicking on the title will open a new page with the review on the first book.

The weight of the world is on Wendy's shoulders. After realizing that only she can safe the kingdom by sacrificing herself, Wendy is up for a great task. Above that not everyone in the kingdom stands behind her, which results in many disputes where Wendy can't defend herself. Only learning to be a future queen, she's has save the kingdom and wants to save everyone she loves. The treat of the Vittra is suffocating them all, but how does she get people to trust her and to fight this battle with her when all they do is ignore her and not see her as their future queen?
If that isn't enough yet, Wendy also struggles with her feelings for both Finn and Loki while being married to Tove. It's time for her to finally pick someone, but her fear of losing either one of them is too hard to bear. Next to losing one of her loved ones, her mother isn't doing well either. Wendy finds herself on an emotional roller coaster while training to be the future queen and saving her kingdom. Will she be able to stand or will she fall under the weight? The ultimate question remains: will she'll be able to save everyone?

With this series coming to an end, I have to say I'm absolutely happy with our main character Wendy. Over the course of 3 books, we really saw her grow. From first being someone totally different from who she thought she was to now being on her way to become the queen of the kingdom, I have to say this character has never ever disappointed me.

If there's one thing I can say it's that it's amazing to see her make this progress over a longer course. It just adds to the realistic side of the character. Everything takes time, and her becoming the woman she was destined to be was something that takes time. Amanda Hocking therefore did a great thing from making this doubting character into a strong, independent one. It might have taken us 3 books to finally see her being ready or close to ready, but the end result in the last book is fantastic.

If there's one thing I admired in this character it's her courage. Wendy has this hard task on her shoulders: rescuing the kingdom from the Vittra treat. By now we all know what's going on and what the history is between both Trylle and Vittra (Bonus: we'll get a few more answers during Ascend!) and know what role Wendy plays in this part. The fact that she's also in the process of becoming the future leader of the kingdom makes sure that she'll have a great challenge. The courage and strength this character shows therefore is very admirable.

And strength she'll need. The people in the kingdom are having a hard time with standing beside her and agreeing to whatever she proposes. This creates an even more difficult situation for Wendy. It might be the last book, but if all it really gives our main character one last chance to prove herself. And prove the readers that she really is in fact this amazing, strong, independent woman that grew over the course of this series.

Above that Wendy is struggling with a few problems of her own. Being the last book of the series, we'll have to get answers on that. Once again this character shows how strong she is by leading and trying to figure out where her heart is really at. This will of course make sure that a lot of feelings will be directed to the readers and makes it easier to connect with the character.

If I can say anything about all the characters in general it's that I absolutely think the author did a fantastic job with writing them. Each and every character has its individual characteristics, strengths and weaknesses that made sure we got a very varied range of characters. Each of them really added to the story and influenced it so that we came to this one coherent story that really takes us on an adventure. Above that I'm amazed by how well each of the grew and changed, some taking a different path than readers might have expected. Amanda Hocking really writes beautiful characters that still surprise!

For the plot I have to admit that I was stunned by it. We all know that Wendy is having some personal trouble and I had expected that that would really take up the plot as a whole. However that really wasn't the case at all. Of course we'll get a close-up on these problems as they'll still be of major importance for our character's personality and for the readers (because we want answers!). Yet I did notice that the story really concentrates on Wendy becoming the woman that she needs to become to save everyone.

We know that she's still learning to be this future queen and Amanda Hocking really took us onto the trip where we saw her grow in this individual, strong person. She's totally transforming in front of us by making us live through moments of her reigning. With her mother being really ill, it's therefore logical that Wendy takes her spot for now. This learning process will be added with making us sit through meetings and moments where fights have happened and the kingdom needs to make a statement or visit the surviving.

I feel like the author really took time to set apart all the responsibilities Wendy will have to carry to amplify the weight on her shoulders, as well as really show us, through the plot, how she becomes the woman she's always destined to be. I really enjoyed being in those meetings as a reader and get to know their plans and train of thoughts. It just didn't shut out the whole task that Wendy would have to take when she's a future queen. I'm absolutely thrilled that the author didn't only talk about the personal affairs, but also put a lot of attention on what this is all about: the threat.

Speaking of the threat we're in for a lot of action in this book. Even though we are seeing a lot of meetings and battlefields, the book takes time to present scenes where Trylle and Vittra will meet. These scenes in particular always gave me chills because of the nature of the Vittra. That's something I have always admired with this series, the author made such a great representation of the Vittra and when they meet each other on the battlefield or in either ones kingdoms, we're in for action and thrill. Once again these emotions will make us get ready for what will come. The tension between the two was also something that got bigger, which I had expected because it is the last book, nonetheless it was something I really enjoyed!

Next up are the emotional and personal problems, or challenges, Wendy will have to conquer in the last book! We've come a long way and we also know that Wendy's heart is torn up between different men. Now the series is coming to an end, we'll see how this will turn out. Therefore the author gave us all the options and so many things to feel through different scenes. It is time to find out if your ship survives people! I absolutely enjoyed this challenge, especially because Wendy had to find an answer. Above that the pressure she's now feeling will influence her relationships and make it an even bigger mystery to who she might pick.

This book is just a great story with the emotional factor and the political one! There's action, there's thrill, there's romance, and so much more! Also the family aspect will come forward even more in Ascend and I really fell for that more than I had expected. Even though it isn't discussed too much we'll still be able to live through it and feel connected to it when it is discussed and get a few answers we were dying to get.

One thing I'd love to point out however is the fact that Amanda Hocking twisted this story so much. It came as a huge surprise to not see the story go as I had first anticipated. I think we can all agree that when you read a book, you know how the author will try to maneuver it. There's always that thread that connects the characters to each other and to the events. I really had not thought that this story could end up so much more different. I have to say that this caused me to be so disappointed, because I had really high expectations of the story to go and end this way. The author really showed great courage with twisting it and making the characters go another way. After coming to terms with it and accepting it, I did actually love how it went. And I absolutely want to applaud the author for making this change of course.

Lastly I want to point out that there's a prologue to the story and it was included in my copy of the book because it's bonus content. If it's not included in your copy of Ascend, I think you can find it online as an e-book type but I'm not sure. What I can say about Ever After is that I absolutely loved the bonus content. It was absolutely amazing to see how this series had ended and how all the characters have moved on from it too. It gives us one last look to each and every one of them and to feel like this is really the end. It just really gives the readers more closure by giving us a glance in their happily (?) ever after!

Although I had expected a total different ending, I did enjoy this book as the end of the Trylle series. The characters have grown so much over the course of 3 books and I really adore how Wendy became the strong independent woman she was destined to be. I really admire that the author dared to change the story up and turn another way with some characters so that the readers are left with a total different outcome. I do admit that I was a little disappointed it didn't go the way I wanted it, however I did come to terms with it since it's a beautiful ending. Also the big concern that's been hovering over this series is finally resolved and I have to say that I absolutely loved it! The author took time for a plan and then action and let me tell you... action it is! Even though I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did the first one, I'm still really happy that I picked up the series and finished it! Bonus points for Amanda Hocking to change it up and leave us with a book and ending that's so different from what we might have expected since book one.

Anticipated releases!

As always summer makes me more eager to read, especially because most days I'm working! So not a lot of the days are over to get a lot of reading done, because then you're just so tired as well... You know the drill! Even though I can't read a lot right now, I'm really looking forward to two books that will be releasing in the next coming time! Both feel like a big summer read but one isn't coming out until 2018! Sad face... Here are my anticipated releases!

Just Friends by Tiffany Pitcock
Release date: 1st august 2017
I might never have read anything by this author, the cover and the synopsis just really make me feel like this needs to be read during summer. I'm in luck, it gets released this summer in August so I will be able to read it this summer and feel absolutely great about it!

Jenny meets Chance for the very first time when she is assigned as his partner in their Junior Oral Communications class. But after they rescue a doomed assignment with one clever lie, the whole school is suddenly convinced that Little-Miss-Really-Likes-Having-A’s and the most scandalous heartbreaker in school have been best friends forever. It’s amazing how quickly a lie can grow―especially when you really, really want it to be the truth.

With Jenny, Chance can live the normal life he’s always kind of wanted. And with Chance, Jenny can have the exciting teen experiences that TV shows and movies have always promised. Through it all, they hold on to the fact that they are “just friends.” But that might be the biggest lie of all.

I also just read that the author is a debut author which makes this release even more exciting! I'm always on the lookout for new authors that present a first book. It's nice finding new ones because it means a new writing style and who knows maybe a new favorite author!

Also the story just gives me amazing vibes and who doesn't love to read something like this? It's a classic romantic one so I'm hoping that it'll get a twist anyway and maybe a bit of drama. For short I'm just really, really excited about the book and I can't wait to get it in my hands.

Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch
Release date: 1st May 2018
A little downside to the book: we need to wait another year before we can get this book! Nevertheless am I absolutely thrilled for this one! Last year Jenna Evens Welch brought her first book Love & Gelato which I fell in love with the moment I saw the cover.

A few of you might remember that I wanted to take this book with me on my trip to Italy because the characters were based there but that the release was postponed to a later date and I had to leave without the book. I read the book when I got home and boy, I loved it! This book has so much thrill and romance and a beautiful written description about the city that it was hard not to love. Of course I just had been to Italy and I had seen the beautiful piazza's which added a lot to my imagination in the book.

This time around the author will do something similar but in another city and with another background story! I'm already very excited for this as the cover is very close to Love & Gelato's so that makes it even more thrilling in my opinion.

Addie is visiting Ireland for her aunt’s over-the-top destination wedding, and hoping she can stop thinking about the one horrible thing she did that left her miserable and heartbroken—and threatens her future. But her brother, Ian, isn’t about to let her forget, and his constant needling leads to arguments and even a fistfight between the two once inseparable siblings. Miserable, Addie can’t wait to visit her friend in Italy and leave her brother—and her problems—behind.
So when Addie discovers an unusual guidebook, Ireland for the Heartbroken, hidden in the dusty shelves of the hotel library, she’s able to finally escape her anxious mind and Ian’s criticism.

And then their travel plans change. Suddenly Addie finds herself on a whirlwind tour of the Emerald Isle, trapped in the world’s smallest vehicle with Ian and his admittedly cute, Irish-accented friend Rowan. As the trio journeys over breathtaking green hills, past countless castles, and through a number of fairy-tale forests, Addie hopes her guidebook will heal not only her broken heart, but also her shattered relationship with her brother.

That is if they don’t get completely lost along the way.

I'm already so excited to visit Ireland through the eyes of the characters, and through the eyes of the author. I really love her writing style and it was also very easy to read in Love & Gelato so I'm hoping that this won't be any different. I really loved the author's first book so my expectations are high!

If you're interested in reading my review on the first book by Jenna Evans Welch, the review on Love & Gelato is HERE! It was my summer read of July 2016 so it's absolutely a recommendation to read during summer!

Those are the two books with summer-y feeling that will be released in the next couple time (ugh year!) that I'm really looking forward to! Hopefully I can read both during summer as I know this will add more to the feels while I read. I do wonder if I'll be able to contain myself for a month with Love & Luck since it comes out May but it's not summer yet... we'll have to see!

Raveling You

A few months back, let's make that almost a year ago, I read a book by choice for my English exam. Of course I went for one of my favorite authors and I guessed it was about time to move on with the series and read another book by her. I have to say, it did not disappoint: Raveling You by Jessica Sorensen.

Note: this book is the second in a series of 5. If you have not read the first book, I highly recommend to not continue because more developments have been happening in the book in comparison to the first book. Reading on will spoil you for the first book in the series. If you are interested in the series, I did write a review on the first book: Unraveling you.

REVIEW UNRAVELING YOU: HERE

Ayden's past has finally come to knock onto his doorstep with a threat: his dead brother is only the beginning. Ayden is trying to remember everything that has happened when he was kidnapped so many years ago but his fears is keeping him from remembering. All the while, Lyric stands by him and tries to ease his fear and worries for what might have happened to his sister. While both try to solve the mystery, both also start to realize how important the other is for them and they can't afford to lose each other. When danger comes knocking on his door again, he doesn't know if he'll be able to save her from it.

Not much has changed when we look at Lyric, she still surprises me so much with her optimism and how happy she can be all the time, even when happiness isn't standing on her side in the story. I really, absolutely appreciate the fact that the author wrote a character that shows such positive vibes to the readers. Even when the times are very hard and rough, Lyric tries to find the brightest thing in it and tries to make it shine for everyone. Lyric is one of those characters that makes you smile because of her bright personality but also because of her sarcasm and dry humor which I can surely appreciate.

Another thing I really enjoyed with this character was how much more we could see her support the people around her. Everyone is suffering from what's happening and she's such a supportive character that it's just so hard not to love her. Her support for others really is something beautiful in this character and what makes her also very relatable.

This time around, Lyric will also try to find a way to her dreams as well which really made me appreciate her even more. Even though she tries to support, she doesn't dwell and won't put a stop on her dreams because of it. She'll find a way to include everyone else in her dreams so they can be happy and enjoy themselves. I really saw a development in this character, even though it was tiny when I compare it to Ayden.

Ayden is the other counterpart in the story and we see the huge contrast between him and Lyric. While Lyric always has had a good life and still can find happiness, we have Ayden who's been through a lot and gets pulled into his past once again. This time around, in contrast with Unraveling You, I feel like we know Ayden a lot better. His messages in his head aren't as cryptic anymore and he's really trying his best to become a full human being again.

We see him struggle a lot under the pressure of the police as well, he's doubting and worrying but that fact that he's trying really hard to make his existence count and to show that he can be useful and good enough really shows how much courage he has and that brightens his personality a lot. Of course this character is also the key to all the mystery that came in Unraveling You because it's his past that we need to access to get answers.

We all know what has happened with with his brother, and for everyone's sake can I just say how surprising that actually was? Let's face it: we were never prepared for an ending like that! Raveling You will therefore really concentrate a lot on the mystery too and that's where our character Ayden comes in because we need him.

This character shows such a huge difference and contrast to the first book in the series. Although there are many moments of doubt and worry, of fear for the unknown and his past, we also see how much he's trying to become such a great personality with happiness. I'm really glad that we also know a lot more about him and his feelings, without making his character seem too different from Unraveling You. The author stayed with his personality and only tried to change him for the better in small ways which I found very fantastic. She stays close to his reality which I think is a very important thing in this series.

As for the plot, I already said it: it's mysterious. I was very surprised when I read Unraveling You because all the books I've read by this author didn't necessarily have this kind of mystery. And of course the mystery was only becoming bigger towards the end of book one and now it continues. The author will finally release some details we need to get a picture of Ayden's past and what we're up against. The best thing is that she doesn't give us everything because the character isn't ready for it. It really gives such a great feeling and made me feel aligned with Ayden. This of course gives Jessica Sorensen bonus points!

As we're finally unraveling more of the mystery, the two main characters will start to align themselves more and more with each other. The lines between romance and friendship will be blurring and becoming very, very thin and who does not love such a thing? What was something that I really appreciated was the fact that the author really focused on their personalities: Lyric might be ready for anything, Ayden is really struggling and might not be ready for anything. It also made sure that both of them won't only support the other but also find a way to be pleased both and to find the golden midway. I really can't say it enough; the author did a great job with using their personalities and build the events around it.

This growing affection between the characters and the mystery is also very well balanced out. The only remark I have toward this book is the fact that the author focused a lot on the sexual tension between the characters. Of course this was necessary in the book because this will have impact on the characters but I often wondered where the feelings are hanging around as they just talked about wanting to kiss the other constantly. I just wished the author focused a bit more on this. Other than that this book was very well written with a lot of new mystery that sometimes chilled you to the bones but that's really an asset to the plot in my opinion. Of course there are also very happy feelings and other kind of feelings, which are always there in a story by this author.

Raveling You was a great follow-up on Unraveling You. The characters are still very well written and still showed a lot of developments. The plot also has a good balance with the mystery about Ayden and the development between Lyric and Ayden. Although sometimes I wished the author didn't focus all the time on the sexual tension between them and focused a little bit more on their feelings for each other. Of course their feelings are written, and they're well written, I just wished the focus was more on that. The mystery also starts to get more and more detailed which really makes the readers get pulled into the story and get very chilled at times because of what this all might mean. Once again Jessica Sorensen made a very unique story that follows up the first part in this series amazingly: it makes you wonder about what will happen next and how the mystery will evolve! I can only say one thing: I am excited!

Opposition

"It's over. Finally, I relaxed against him and closed my eyes. It was over." Except for the fact that this book series is over, I am not relaxed and pressed against Daemon. It's time to face reality, there's no hot and overprotective alien guy living next door and I'll never recover from that either. This series is inside me, everyone, it's in my blood... I can't believe it's over. WHY? This is one of those series that should never end. Like never. Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout, the last book in this series... it pains me to say that.

NOTE: as mentioned above, this is the last book in a series. Everything has very much evolved from book one, Obsidian, until now. If you haven't read any of the books or have not advanced far enough to catch up with this book, I highly recommend NOT to read on since everything is developed to the end of this series! I did wrote reviews on the books before this:

Earth is coming to an end. Ever since the strange lights came down to earth, everything has gone wrong. Daemon and his family are nowhere to be found and that makes Katy worry. Together with Archer and Luc, they take care of Beth who's also been left by herself since the aliens struck down on earth. When Katy gets into the hands of the Luxen, she and the family Black are reunited but we're all in for a surprise. Who's side are they on? And in this battle of world domination: who's your friend? Sometimes, the enemy seems like a better friend than you ever could imagine...

Yes, I am still in tears ever since paragraph one. Can I just please take a holiday to the planet of Luxen? I need to find a Daemon Black okay? I need to be able to let this go, and I will after I have a Daemon... Honestly, if my family will read this, they're going to place me in a closed institution for book junkies like me. I am not crazy okay? Just give me what I want!

I want this series to never ever stop.

Okay, get yourself together. Can I just explain how I feel for Daemon and Katy? They finally got out of the claws of the DOD and now they're parted again? Because of some stupid aliens that come down to earth? YES! Daemon and the rest of his family are being called towards them and that's so surprising. I never thought he'd leave Katy's side ever again! Yet the author loves to surprise us... I really couldn't believe that happened. If you thought all danger was done for them and they'd live the happily ever after? Think again because Opposition is going to rip all of your happily ever after dreams for them to shreds like they never existed. Once again their relationship will be tested and it's going to please all of us. Believe me!

But in this review I actually wanted to get more into detail about Luc and Archer now we know what they are and who they are! Can I just first explain how much I love these two? I fell in love with Archer's hidden nice and cute side and I fell in love with Luc because he's such a smartass, young and funny little guy!

First of Archer, who had thought that he would be one of the good guys? I did! But that's because I was re-reading the book. Anyway, I remember that when it all came out and he was one of the good ones I was shocked into tomorrow. His hidden nice side is just amazing, he worries for everyone even if he doesn't know them that well and it's just fantastic. I feel like this is one of those newer characters, one's personality that isn't reflected on the others. With that I really mean that I feel like he doesn't has the positivity of Dee, or the arrogance and protectiveness of Daemon, not the stay cool and be friendly of Dawson. Hell, not even the determination as Katy or the smart-ass comments of Luc. Archer is just one of those characters that's going to great lengths but very down to earth, he's his own personality. It's going to be hard to get through him, to find out what's going on inside of him all the while you know he's worried about everyone.

I really was keen on this character because he hid so much for us and it was just a pleasure to unravel more of him in Opposition. He might be down to earth, very hidden about everything but I do feel like readers will get to know him a bit more during this book. That's a good thing though because he's also one of my favorite characters in this book... Who isn't? Probably Blake. Anyway, without telling us much it still feels as if we know more about him and that's a pretty talent for a character.

As for Luc, oh God I just adore this guy so much I wish he was real. Keep in mind that I want every character in this book to be real. He's just so special that it's almost heart wrenching! Although he's a smart-ass and has a lot of power, he keeps everything that's happening so light. His humor, snappy but hilarious comments are just to die for and that made this character also one of the best ones. When everything's going down the wrong way, he'll help out and still be funny which was highly appreciated with me and probably will be appreciated by you, the next reader! But not everything is known about this character and we'll get to see a glimpse of a side that I never expected to see which was also a great asset. It gave more light onto Luc and made my appreciation even bigger. Readers will be able to enjoy this character because he's so funny and is different than what he seems to be.

I would not turn down a sequel with any of these two and if my brain is working alright, I think a sequel in one of these two's perspectives might come this way:

At that moment my brain blew and I was so excited I wrote this as a comment:
@Bookangels: WHAT VITAL PIECE OF INFORMATION AM I MISSING HERE?? Someone please tell me what's going on? Is there a title I'm not yet aware of??

Yes someone tell me what vital piece am I missing? I mean I've searched for a title but I didn't find one... A bit later the author, Jennifer L. Armentrout wrote this in the comments...

@Authorjlarmentrout: Well, quote is not from Archer, so it obvs not him. I also don't have plans to write about him. His story has already been showed, along with Dee.
HELLO this mean a LUC STORY? You can imagine how happy I was after that... can't you guys?

That said, we'll be moving on to the plot. Holly alien luxen babies there's an invasion taking place. That already rouses up a lot of feelings with the readers: excitement for all of this and the fear because important characters suddenly disappear and we will not know what's going on until Katy is brought back to them. What I did notice is that we'd probably be left in the dark a bit longer if there wasn't a chapter with Deamon's perspective before Katy came to the core of what was actually happening. I feel like the author left that opportunity to keep us a bit longer in that questionable area, nevertheless was it very thrilling to now infiltrate in a colony of Aliens instead of infiltrating with the DOD.

During this infiltration, that's rather short if you ask me, we do receive more information that leaves us in thrill and waiting for clear answers which is a great thing about the book. Even after all these books you'd be amazed by how many secrets and lies will be revealed that you start wondering if you slept through half of the books because how could you NOT KNOW THIS? And when we do finally receive some answers, the car is going upside down and a very unexpected someone turns up to bring in some action and maybe even help out.

Readers will be in shock during this read because this time it's all about who is the enemy? We'll be tossed and turned from one to another, knowing better than to trust anyone. After all, the books told us not to be so obvious. I really thought that was well thought of during this book and Katy will also make a very clear statement of how it all works with enemies and friends when she lectures a piece of our history. The resemblances are striking!

And do keep in mind, sometimes your enemies are the closest thing you got to a friend.

Doesn't that sound thrilling? And speaking of thrilling, the plot is more than that! This time around, the author has decided not to spare us with surprising twists and unforgettable moments in this series. Although I think Daemon and Katy had the worst times of making love to each other, it still surprised me how deep this story goes. Our hearts will not be spared at all and that's the thrilling part about it while you get into situations with the characters, that make you doubt everything you knew. Friends are foes, foes are friends and your entire world is tossed upside down. Ending this series with loss, love and a phenomenal ending all the while being fed with plot twists, Opposition will be left in your body for a long time after you read it.

And that's how it all ends, this review as well as this fantastic book series. I'm in tears. The emotions have been running high in this book, we've lost together with the characters, we've loved, we've fought and we have conquered. This book is a phenomenal ending to this series, making sure that everything comes full circle. The plot as well as the characters take surprising turns that make you wonder who the real enemy really is and if, after all, there is an enemy. You'll be driven insane until the last part and then get a heart attack because the author decided it was time for another one of this plot twists that wreck your heart. To conclude all, there's a heartbreaking (in a good way or bad way, who will tell?) Epilogue that makes you wish this was not the end. The end of it all. I absolutely recommend this series, I've felt so much during it and so much love and hate for the characters that it just created a great bond! I'm in tears, still am, even after re-reading this whole series and that... that means a lot...

Before I close this review, I'd like to point out that there are short stories about Katy and Daemon you can just read online! Such as "The Wedding" and "Daemon and Kat Go Halloween Costume Shopping", I'll link the Goodreads link HERE! If you click onto the book, you'll find a link in the description most likely and it'll make sure you can read it. Also there's Oblivion, the book that tells the first 3 books in Daemon's POV. The E-book version gives all 3, the physical copy only Obsidian which left me in tears once again. If I re-read the book, I will review it but it's also a big recommendation!

Origin

I feel like April is totally the "alien month" or "Luxen month", it's the 4th week of April and all reviews this month have been about the most amazing series Jennifer L. Armentrout has ever written, at least that's my opinion. And before you ask, yes I am reviewing yet another book in this series! Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout

NOTE: This is a 4th in a season and therefore a lot of things have happened. If you have not read this series at all, I highly recommend not reading any further. The book already has made developments and further changes because of the books before Origin. If you're interested in reading the series or interested what this is about, I wrote reviews on every single book before Origin:

Review on Opal: HERE

Katy is captured by the DOD and that doesn't make anything easier than it already was. Forced to show them what she's capable off, Katy will turn dark and against all she ever thought was important. Daemon's need of finding Katy and freeing her from this horrible new life she's having is his only concern. He'll go through great lengths to save everyone that he loves, and especially his most beloved: Katy. Together they'll face the impossible while holding on to hope. But the DOD also has a few tricks on their sleeves...

This book will blow minds when it comes to the new characters coming and secrets being revealed, honestly though! I never thought it could get any freakier but I guess all is possible in this series!

First of, the bonding between Katy and Daemon. I think we've established in the previous reviews that I absolutely love these two. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses that will complete each other and makes them the perfect combination of deadly and lovable.

In Origin, their bond will be on a new level. Katy is captured, which I was in shock about and really, really felt bad about when I ended Opal! With this comes a whole bunch of crappy moments. The DOD obviously wants to know what she's capable off and this will make sure that our bright Katy is going to become glowing less and less. The things they make her do will end her stubbornness and her determination of doing what she wants to do. There's no room for her being herself and object to things because that will only harm her. The reader will really come to a level of Katy we haven't really witnessed before: her being powerlessness! This will go to very deep lengths of her personality and it's hard not to feel bad for her.

As for Daemon, he's ready to burn an entire state down, what am I saying? I meant the whole planet. From previous books we already knew that he's very protective over everyone he loves, Katy is no exception to that. Daemon's character will therefore be tested a lot which was also a nice change to see since this book has two POV's. Readers will finally know what's on his mind, especially now things went totally wrong.

I really appreciated seeing the change within the characters now everything has been going south. It's mostly Katy and Daemon we'll see because that's who the DOD wants. Nevertheless did I really enjoy these two and see their personalities develop and capture the reader with how they feel about doing the things they don't want to do and how to live with it.

As for the characters in general this book is all about finding out what family really means. Take my word for it! Also new characters will be introduced and of some I'm a real fan. I wouldn't mind a sequel on them but I doubt it'll ever come... sad face. And yes, it's also time to say goodbye to a few characters that each, after and during all these books, have left marks on your heart. The good kind and the bad kind. I feel so sad and dull about it, but it also is important to the statement I said earlier in this paragraph. Seeing them go, and see others come really makes it feel like the end of the series is coming which is a good thing because I feel excited for the next part! But it's sad that the next is the last. This is a series I wish that kept going forever. But to all great comes and end... sad face once again.

As for the plot: HI, I really want to be living there okay? Well, I don't want to be really living their because this book is really going to show how bad everything can get when you're a hybrid or an alien. Nevertheless was this a very well written plot that's been thought out really well!

Readers will once again be captured by all the feelings the author throws by us but the plot will also be revealing a few secrets! Believe me when that happens... it's like we're really being thrown out of the atmosphere. There is more than just Humans, Hybrids and Luxen and that "more" is being captured in Building B. Doesn't that sound mysterious?

Well, imagine this over a whole book. The characters don't know what's in Building B, the readers don't know what's in Building B and every once in a while, something goes down in that building and we will all want to know what on earth it is. And you will know and you will be shocked as well as maybe a bit freaked out when you get the description and know what that "more" is capable of!

And when that secret is being revealed, a whole other secret will be revealed and it will explain so much about something in Opal, that I was shocked once again!

Anyway, before we all know this secret we'll take a whole detour through the DOD's underground building. It really feels as if we're infiltrating and opening our eyes. Katy will go through whatever Dawson and Bethany have gone through and it's really nice to see and know what that exactly was. Knowing what Dawson and Bethany went through but seeing it through another character feels like an asset to me because we're really living it 'over again' and this fuels all your emotions and heightens your senses.

Lastly, please watch out with who you trust. And I don't know if I should add more to that or not but I feel like it's a good warning to give. I know, I know, I feel evil for telling A and not B but it'll add more while you read it! Also, these friends or foes thing is played out really well in this book and it's even important after everything the DOD told us! Keep in mind that some friends are foes and some foes are friends because hello... that ENDING THOUGH!

The ending will really punch you into tomorrow! The book, characters like the DOD and others have told us so much. Some might be lies, some might be truths but you'll never know the real truth until you get to that ending. And when you do... things are going to look like you want to throw out the book, scream and take it back and finish it so you can start in Opposition. Honest to the Book Gods, this ending was the best one yet because there are still so many questions and many arise while you're reading the final part in Origin. You will not believe this...

Holly hell, this book. Once again Jennifer L. Armentrout knows how to capture us by the heart and pull us in! This book really concentrates on the enemy and makes you infiltrate in their base. Trust will be hard to find in this book because readers will be in constant fear of who is a friend and who is  foe which can create a very suspicious feeling within the reader. New characters will make their appearance and old ones will be vanishing, leaving a mark on your heart where they once were. And be ready for a book full of action, fighting, surviving by yourself and getting out to finally breath... or not? Because the plot has a few surprises up its sleeve and the reader will be shocked when all of that starts having consequences. I absolutely recommend Origin, just as all the other books this one is just fantastic! You'll fall in love once again with the characters, the surprises will leave you breathless and that ending... Jennifer L. Armentrout knows how to do it! An absolute recommendation!

I'll burn the world down to save her.”

Opal

Jesus Christ, I absolutely can't! Everything was going fine and then the writer comes with an ending like this? I just died, only seconds ago I was all good and then I literally died! Jennifer L. Armentrout, why? Even re-reading this book doesn't make the heartache I had last time with this end go away! Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout, stabs your heart until you can't look at the book no longer! And that's in a good way.

NOTE: This is a 3th in a series of 5! If you haven't read the first book or the second, I recommend not reading any further in this review. The review will spoil developments and changes that have happened in the first two books to be able to build and explain further on Opal. If you're interested in the series I do have a review on Obsidian: HERE and on Onyx: HERE!

After suffering for so long, the wait is over and the lost brother has returned. Yet not everything is solved by this, people who should be gone are returning with threats. Katy and Daemon will have no other choice but work together with the traitor and help him out. Also Dawson is restless and asks them for help which our fellow characters can't ignore. Everyone is holding their breaths because this rescue is going to get them either all out, or all killed. They are still watching...

I actually want to go to the plot so badly... seriously what is going on with Jennifer L. Armentrout? She writes all these things SO damn well that I never can take a break. I need to read on and on until I finished it. And I did and how beautiful it was...

Daemon and Katy will be tested even more in Opal. Last time around, we saw Katy really on herself doing what she thought was best but mistakes were made. Now, back into action and fully recovered she and Daemon will turn over a new leaf. Yet that new leaf doesn't come with only romance and days off. Everyone is on edge, which also means these two. Daemon as well as Katy will not really have time to take a break and breath as a new threat towards them arrives. People that should've been gone have returned and want them to help out. If not, they'll be handed over to a third party that'd like nothing more than get their hands on these two.

Therefore their new relationship will be set aside every now and then because they have no other choice but get with this person and do what needs to be done. It does strengthen their bond and how they act to one another which is something readers will really be anticipating for! Also their moments of anger and frustration won't be gone at all which gives us again those feels but also a smile onto our faces: nothing much has changed between those two!

A new character arrived in the previous book: HELLO DAWSON, BROTHER OF DAEMON I LIKE YOU. Yes, I like him! He's been through a lot and has suffered very much. Although I wish I knew what had been going on in every detail there was, Dawson isn't the big mouth like his brother is. This already shows a big contrast! Yet the two have things in common: their love for a human! Also Dawson has lost something when he returned and he's up for getting it back and that drives the characters insane.

Everyone is going to have to check on him, keep an eye on him but Dawson will get more open while the book is evolving. Readers will really appreciate the stark contrast between the two bothers and see how they each react on situations. Often they also react the same when both know how hard it is to lose something they love. It's these moments that really give the reader in-tell on how Dawson acts and how his personality is!

I've been waiting to talk about the plot for a few paragraphs now, waw that was long! What the characters are about to do actually blows my mind. At first, the plot will be holding its breath now Dawson is home. Nobody really knows what's going to happen, are they coming after him? Are they not? Is Arum coming after him? No? Everyone is going to be busy with this and only this but not all danger has been resolved yet.

Characters that shouldn't be here any longer are coming back and that brings bad luck for everyone. Katy and Daemon are being threatened and got no other way than go with it and help out. Dawson does have a benefit with this threat and it is that he'll get a step closer to getting back what he desires so much! I really love how every book has been coming up with the good things that are connected with the bad. It really shows us that to all there is something to appreciate and it's a great mentality the book gives to the reader.

Anyway, it's time for a rescue mission! And holy alien babies, this rescue is the best of the best! Readers don't know what's going to happen, hell the characters don't even know what's going to happen! Are they going to succeed? Are they not?

The first thing that's important is how they'll get in and out, this without being captured. Also how they'll be able to defend themselves against the things they don't know of is a important aspect before they go in. Nobody knows what's behind all those doors and that's pretty terrifying. That fear is also reflected inside the characters and that causes the reader to really be into it all and biting off the nails! They get in contact with a new character, who was very surprising to my opinion, that's going to help them out and then all that's left is to storm the building...

Again for action, you'll be good in this book. I mean it really won't get any better than a rescuing mission this time around but the buildup towards it, the practice, the uncertainty? It's all that's needed for the readers to be all hence on deck and hope that everything is going to turn out alright.

But the romance part will be alternated with the action, and waw are we in for a swoon-worthy plot! Although the action will be the main thing in all of our heads, Daemon can get really cute and romantic for Katy and it'll blow us away. I'm really happy that the author made time to alternate between suspense and the love-life because it's just phenomenally and swoon-worthy and I just need a Daemon in my life now!

This book series honestly is only getting better and better! The new threats will get into action, people who should be gone are returning and bringing more danger to our characters. Together with that, we'll discover more people alike and find out new vital elements that we didn't even knew before all this. New questions will arise and there's only one advice: "You really shouldn't trust a soul in this game. Not when everyone has something to gain or to lose." If you want action, thrill then be prepared. If you want a sweet and cute romance? Then you're good in Opal. If you want to be tortured until the end and really feel every feeling racing through you? YOU ARE GOOD WITH THIS BOOK. Holy alien babies, this book scores like every other book in this series. And that ending, I want to give a standing ovation and stab her for doing this to us. Honestly, Jennifer L. Armentrout you got nerve! I absolutely devoured this book like it was one of those cookies Daemon wanted Katy to come and get. Yes. If you enjoyed the first two book in this series, you'll love this one as well!
